Bulk actions for the rows you've ticked (D34). On desktop a dark capsule floats at the bottom of the list, so the rows stay where they are while you select. The count is a chip that holds its own ×, and Escape does the same, so the bar's end is free. Then Select all and three slots for the actions, with the product's icons beside their labels, then More (D36). Delete lives at the end of More, and comes out in red after a rule only when everything fits. On phones the bar takes the tab bar's place.
Several jobs ticked: everything fits
Change status, Archive and Delete fill the three slots, so there's no More and Delete takes the last one.
One job: three slots, then More
One pending job has more actions than slots: its first three, in the order the list declares them, then More with the rest, Archive and Delete last.
Everything ticked, and below 1100 wide
With all of them ticked the chip says so and the link goes: the chip's × already clears them all. From 768 to 1099 wide there are two slots: Change status, then More with Archive and Delete (More never holds just one). The labels stay.
Phones: the tab bar turns into the action bar
Below 768 the page header shows the count with Select all and Done (once it has scrolled away, a compact bar with the same three takes the top bar's place, D39), and the bar sits where the tab bar was, in the chrome's own dark, with its own rule: up to two actions, More, and Delete last, each an icon over its label. When a label wouldn't fit its place, one action fewer stays and it goes into More, so the rest widen. Until something is ticked the actions wait, disabled. Try it in the live list on the List page: tap Select, or hold a row.
Rules
- Only where the list has bulk actions (L-selection); never invent them.
- Three slots, then More (two from 768 to 1099 wide), filled in the order the list declares its actions; a menu is one slot. More never holds just one action. Phones: up to two actions, More, Delete; fewer while a label wouldn't fit.
- Red is for what can't be undone: Delete, at the end of More, or last on the bar after a rule when everything fits. Archive and Delete confirm first; the confirmation's final button is the only filled red.
- The chip's × and Escape clear the selection; on phones Done does.
- Actions that depend on what's selected (one job vs several) change with the selection; menus (Change status, More) open from the bar.
